CSI British Open Show Jumping Championships - Birmingham
The last competition of the day was the famous British Open Puissance class where ten competitors braved the ever-growing wall. Four rounds in total eventually whittled the riders down to just two, with Robert Whitaker on Finbarr V and Ben Maher riding Eperlaan du Fouquet facing the magnificent 7ft 4 ¾ inches wall in the fifth round. Both riders made a brave attempt at the wall with Robert Whitaker almost clearing it, but the wall was to go no higher tonight. The atmosphere and tension of the Puissance was a great end to a day of world-class competition at the British Open Championships.
