BWP stallion approvals
The second phase of the BWP stallion approvals was a hit for Stal de Muze. Not fewer than four stallions (co-)owned by Joris De Brabander were selected to prove their worth under the saddle at Stal Hulsterlo during the third phase.
First of all, there was Perseus de Muze, a son of By Cera d’Ick (Stakkato x Fein Cera, f. Landadel). This Perseus is bred by Marc Vandamme out of the mare Juno de Muze (f. Quidam de Revel). The mother of Juno is named Fuga de Muze, on her turn a daughter of Calato and full sister to Sea Coast Ferly. Further down the lineage, we find Qerly Chin, one of our ‘founding mares’. Perseus was presented by Stal de Muze together with the breeder.
Next in line was Pommerol de Muze, sired by Emerald van ‘t Ruytershof and out of the Kannan-daughter La Chica de Muze. The dam line of La Chica goes once again back to Qerly Chin via Caipiranja (v. Taran de la Pomme). Caipiranja is jumping at the highest level this very moment with Canadian rider Tiffany Foster. Pommerol’s excellent jumping skills earned him a very prestigious move to the Dutch VDL Stud at the BWP Top Stallion Auction. They paid 48.000 EUR for his services.
Some other genes in our next selected stallion. His name is Pele van de Withoeve and he is a son of our stallion Hunters Scendro out of a mare by Graf Top. The dam line of Pele is completely Hannoverian. He was bred by ‘De Withoeve’, situated in Leest.
Last but not least was Cariati d’Elsendam, one of the seven selected stallions by the living legend Cornet Obolensky. He was bred by François Verhulst out of a mother by Contendro I.
Besides these stallions, owned by Stal de Muze, the offspring of our stallions performed very well in general. Three sons of the thoroughbred Gemini xx, two sons of Vigo d'Arsouilles and sons of Nabab de Rêve, Emerald van 't Ruytershof and Le Blue Diamond van 't Ruytershof are also through to the next phase.
Stallion competition
Our stallions were very successful in the PAVO Stallion Competition as well. The first round was organised in Azelhof right after the BWP stallion approvals.
In the category for five year old stallions there was an excellent clear by Navajo van ‘t Vianahof (f. Vagabond de la Pomme) and Walter Lelie.
Our six year old stallions Matisse de Mariposa (f. Diamant de Semilly), ridden by Walter Lelie and Mosito van het Hellehof (f. Elvis Ter Putte), under the saddle of Karline De Brabander produced excellent double clear rounds as well, resulting in the fourth respectively the tenth place.
Le Blue Diamond van ‘t Ruytershof (f. Plot Blue) and Jan Vermeiren eventually, almost succeeded in winning the class for seven year olds. Unfortunately they made a mistake on the very last fence of the jump-off, resulting in fourth place. The next round of the stallion competition will be organised at Sentower Park within a couple of weeks.
International highlights
Not only in Lier there was a lot of equestrian activity. In Wellington, the Winter Equestrian Festival is at full speed. Important de Muze (f. Erco van ‘t Roosakker) jumped very well with Darragh Kenny. The combination won a 1.40m-class and finished third in a 1.45m-class as well.
In Leipzig, the star of Zinius (f. Nabab de Rêve) was shining bright once again. With the brilliant Dutch rider Harrie Smolders he made no mistakes during the whole competition, resulting in a second place over 1.50m and a third place in the World Cup. The same World Cup provided a ninth place for Ego van Orti, sired by Vigo d’Arsouilles, and the Italian Alberto Zorzi.
